Bonsai Health was founded by Dr. Arshom Foroutan, a physician who has lived with ADHD his entire life. After navigating the challenges of medical training and the healthcare system firsthand, he recognized just how poorly the system accommodates neurodiverse patients—and how deeply empowering it can be when care is adapted to fit the patient, not the other way around.
The name “Bonsai Health” comes from one of Dr. Foroutan’s many past ADHD hyperfixations—bonsai trees. Unlike other temporary fascinations, he intentionally chose to stay with this one, precisely because it demanded what ADHD often resists: patience, long-term care, and a quiet kind of discipline. Over time, the practice of bonsai became symbolic—a reminder that things which require great attention, support, and intention often become the most meaningful.
In the same way that a bonsai tree thrives through consistent, thoughtful nurturing, so too can patients with ADHD thrive with the right kind of care. Bonsai Health is built on that philosophy: attentive, ongoing support designed for real life—not idealized routines. We’re here to help you grow on your own terms.
Dr. Arshom Foroutan is a licensed physician who earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2022. He trained extensively in family medicine residency for three years and passed the American Board of Family Medicine certification exam. His clinical experience includes serving as a primary care provider for diverse patient populations, with a particular focus on mental health and ADHD management.
In addition to his clinical background, Dr. Foroutan brings a deep, personal understanding of ADHD, having lived with it throughout his life. This lived experience informs not just how he treats patients—but how he listens, structures care, and helps people build systems that actually work for their brains.
